Nursery Training of Berembang (Sonneratia Caseolaris)

Aceh Besar, January 11, 2022

YAKOPI provides assistance to coastal communities through efforts to restore mangrove land, especially in the post-tsunami Aceh 2004 area through training in Sonneratia type mangrove nursery in Lambadeuk Village. In addition to the Lambadeuk Village group, there are 2 other village groups that participated in this training activity, namely from the Lambaro Neujid Village group and the Lamguron Village group.

This activity aims to increase public knowledge of the Sonneratia nursery method to maximize the mangrove forest restoration process. By involving coastal communities in nursery and planting activities, of course, it has a very positive impact on the empowerment of coastal communities.

The training consisted of two sessions, namely a material explanation session and a hands-on practice session in the nursery. Although the core of the training was knowing the Sonneratia nursery method, Kak Julia as a nursery trainer from Aceh Jaya also explained 5 other types of mangroves so that group members gain more knowledge. Nursery practices are carried out using sow beds and polybags.
