Training On The Process Of Making Nipah (nypa fruticans) Sugar

The event, which was attended by the village secretary and the kwala serapuh community group, was held on December 29, 2021 in the village of kwala serapuh, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.

Previously, the people of Kwala Serapuh did not take advantage of the nipah fruit in their area, despite the fact that there was a great potential for nipah. As a result, YAKOPI empowered there by holding nipah (nypa fruticans) sugar processing training .
The training program’s components included socialization of the nipah sugar-making training program, hands-on experience on cleaning and shaking nipa palm trees, and harvesting nipa palm trees. Cooking for nipah will be on YAKOPI’s future agenda.

YAKOPI expects that this training will bring economic benefits to the impoverished by allowing them to convert current resources into something of worth for sale. This practice was also carried out in four additional villages throughout Langkat Regency.
